Mubasher: Qatar Electricity and Water Company announced an allocation to a piece of land in Kharsa’ah for the solar energy project, whose first phase will produce around 500 to 1000 megawatts, according to the managing director Fahd Hamad Al Mohanadi.

The first phase will cost around $500 million, according to Al Raya Newspaper, citing Al Mohanadi as saying.

The project will start production in mid-2020, Al Mohanadi added in a press conference on Monday.

Moreover, he added that 92% of Om Al Hool power station, which is expected to finish in 2018, costs $3 billion, and will produce 2500 megawatt and 130 million gallons of water, which represent 25% of the country’s needs.

Al Mohanadi also announced “Facility E”, a project to produce 2000 megawatts and 100 million gallons of water, with total costs of $3 billion.
